When adding a custom link from FO, the viewUrl of link icon is /cms/plugins/cms/binary/picture?objectId=xxx (image not found)

There is 2 issues:

LinkDAO should use ResolveURIComponent.resolve when getting viewUrl and downloadUrl of a link (instead of rewrite link resolution itself)
When creating a user link from FO, we force the default workspace so the viewUrl are resolved with CMS url. The switch of workspace should be done only for creation, not for getting link data
